#ReimagineFE18 : 27 June 2018

Welcome to the official website for the Reimagining Further Education Conferences. The 3rd annual conference will be held on 27 June, 2018 at Birmingham City University. Tickets can be purchased here. The draft conference schedule is now available.

Ten years ago, Frank Coffield published “Just suppose teaching and learning were the first priority…” This seminal work provides thematic inspiration for the 2018 conference. Frank will deliver the opening keynote address and stimulate our thinking to reconceptualise how education provision can be organised with teaching and learning at its heart. Further inspiration will be provided by keynote speakers who are FE Leaders busy with the daily work of prioritising teaching and learning: Ali Hadawi, CBE, and Principal of Central Bedfordshire College; and Jo-Fletcher Saxon & Brian Copper, Vice Principals of Ashton Sixth Form College.

Working Groups: Having eschewed stand and deliver presentations, the 2018 conference organisation continues to evolve into stronger working groups with clear structure and publishing remit. The role of the working group is to engage in professional dialogue around a central theme and to tackle the obstacles which keep teaching and learning a lower priority in that area. The conveners of these groups will be tasked with publishing the groups’ conclusions in the CSPACE Journal, an open access publication from Birmingham City University, to be used for influencing policy and practice in this area after the conference. Click here to see the different working groups and what they offer.

When you book tickets for the conference, you will choose a single working group to remain with for both the morning AND afternoon sessions. While we appreciate that many delegates may be interested in more than one group, delegates need time to develop a solid partnership capable of identifying barriers and devising possible approaches to overcome them, both in their own practice as well as when engaging policy. This kind of dialogue is only possible when the group members spend more than a quick session together.
